Hapag-Lloyd Increases Rates from Asia to Americas

German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) from Asia to the West Coast of South America, East Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
The GRI will apply to cargo transported in 20′ and 40′ dry containers, including high cube equipment and 40′ non-operative reefers.
The rate increase will apply from 15 May for all the following destinations – and from 5 June for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
The following GRI will be valid until further notice:
20′ Dry Container: US$500
40′ Dry Container: US$1,000
40′ High Cube Container: US$1,000
40′ Non-operative Reefer Container: US$1,000
The geographical scope of this increase is explained below:
Asia covers the following countries: China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Brunei.
The West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean covers the following countries: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. To East Coast of South America, covering the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay
